The most popular Anderson plug size is the 50A plug. A 12-pin plug is sometimes an alternative to an Anderson plug if the caravanner wants just one electrical connection between car and van. However, there is an important downside. The 12-pin plug can only take a 6mm-diameter wire, so it will not provide the charge of an Anderson plug system.

Hi Norm, It all depends on how the Caravan and car are wired. Typically the Fridge runs through a 12 pin plug as the extra pins are designed to handle the bigger load. Most 7 pin plugs are not set up to run a fridge as the connections cannot handle it.

Hi Paul on my Jayco the black wire is the aux wire,I pulled the black and the white wire out of my 12pin plug and fitted them to a Anderson Plug ,I had a problem with the 12pin plug getting hot on the Aux wire and melting the plug on the Aux terminal only,I think it was my fault because the wire was loose in the terminal,It won't come loose in the Anderson plug,no trouble since.
