Yep, just use a 1.5v battery to figure out which side (red/blue) is which first, so you don't accidently wire them in reverse stereo. Bare copper wire is ground (case), I BELIEVE red will be tip, and blue will be ring (look up a 3.5mm connector) but this is very subject to change.

The cable from a stereo 3.5 mm plug will have 3 conductors, the red (right channel signal), the white (left channel signal) and the outer wire which is the ground for both channels. What you want to do is connect the right and left signal wires from the RCA cable to the right and left signal wires in the cable from the 3.5mm.
