The diagrams usually show a decoder lightboard or one with eight pin socket. I have been following the Bachmann website diagrams and forums since 2007 and have seen the differences. Also, be aware, Bachmann does not use NMRA wire colors. Just follow NMRA wiring plans. The decoders have instructions.

Installation with a Bachmann 36-553 decoder. Two wires (+V and 0V) are required to connect the Stay Alive to the decoder. The decoder's blue +V wire (used for accessories and lights) can be used but I have chosen to add a new +V wire direct to the board to keep the wiring neat.

Last month, I bought a Bachmann G-scale 2-truck Shay. It came with a wiring schematic, but the colors of the wires did not match the schematic at all. Again, Bachmann's response was that the factory just uses whatever they have on hand at the time. So even Bachmann is not going to be able to offer any help concerning your decoder.
