When performing repairs on airbag and seat belt tensioner wiring harness, use only terminals, connectors and wires designated for it.

If the light has come on for no obvious reason then it is because you have a fault somewhere on the airbag system. Most common causes are quite simply bad connections with the seat airbags & seat belt pre-tensioners being the most commonly affected circuits. In many cases the fault can be traced to the wiring under the front seats.

The airbag dummy is simply 2 wires connected to a fixed resistance imitating the resistance of a good airbag circuit. The idea here is to bypass the potentially broken airbag circuit by connecting a “fake airbag” (the airbag dummy) in good working condition, erase the code, start the car and watch if the code comes back.
