Twin electrics is a 2 plug system which combines the single 7 pin 12N electrics socket with a 12S electrics socket. You will need twin electrics if you require more power than what a single 7 pin socket can provide on a pre 2008 manufactured UK caravan (post 2008 UK caravans are fitted with 13 pin connectors).

Hi All Can someone give me some advice on what twin electrics are for. We need to get a towbar fitted to the wifes car for our first caravan, and I havent found a definitive answer on what twin electrics do, and if we need them. I have recently removed the caravan from the caravan yard and stored it at my cousins farm. When we plugged the caravan into the mains, we tripped the fuse between the transformer and the batteries. We changed the fuse (from a 30A to a 40A) and the wires started to smoke. We took the fuse out and checked the batteries to find they had drained.
