Advanced power door lock management is a necessity now given today's complex automotive systems. The need to reduce vehicle weight has prompted these more complex module driven door lock circuits.

Door Locks - Actuators / Reverse Polarity - Positive Switch/Trigger (Type D) Relay Wiring Diagram: Both motor legs rest at ground at the relays. To lock or unlock the vehicle, polarity is changed on one motor leg via a positive pulse from a switch, alarm, keyless entry, etc. to the coil of the respective relay.

The tan and gray wire pairs in each door are the door lock motors (actuators). The light blue, orange/black and black/white wires connect to the door lock switches (orange/black is battery power from the fuse block - ground is supplied through the mounting of the relay to body sheetmetal). If the power door lock still doesn't work, then a door lock motor or one of the actuators may have failed. If you hear a motor whirring, then in all likelihood the actuator is the problem. The door lock motor works in tandem with gears and a gear set, which is attached to an actuator rod. That rod is what moves the door lock up and down.

Pop the window and door lock switch panel off the door handle. Unplug the door lock connectors and inspect to make sure nothing stands out. Follow lead wire to the door lock actuator.
