Installing the Mopar electronic ignition requires a distributor with the magnetic pickup, and one more wire to the ballast resistor. This wiring diagram is for the 1980 and later four pin ignition module. If you have an ignition harness with five wires, just don’t connect the dark green wire that would go to pin 3.

I noticed recently that some of the engine compartment wiring harness connectors on my 1973 Dodge Dart (225 slant 6) were looking a little melted. After studying the wiring diagrams, I discovered that (per the Dodge Factory Service Manual) a 35 amp was standard, while a 60 amp “heavy duty” alternator was optional - and the wiring was different for that option.

I have a 2013 dodge dart with the 1.4L. I recently purchased a HKS turbo timer I'm wanting to install but can't find a wiring diagram for the ignition wire and accessory wire to make the timer work any one have a diagram ? Thanks

The 1969 Dodge Shop manual (available from a number of vendors) details how to do this. If you think your regulator is failing, open it up and clean the "points" with some emory paper (sometimes these points get corroded). NOTE: in diagram #1, the FLD is generally green, and the IGN wire is Dark blue on stock wiring harnesses.

NOTE: I have shown the main alternator output wire in the above diagram in red. In most (maybe all) factory wiring, the alternator output wire will be black . Dodge alternators ground themselves through their case (except 100 amp alts), through the bracketry, the engine block, then finally to the battery negative terminal through the negative cable.

This is a computer controlled alternator. The PCM controls the ground side of the alternator rotor field circuit. I will be walking you through the steps involved in making sure the wiring is correct.
