The screws that hold the pickup in the bridge connect the bridge to the pickups ground. They stuck the extra ground wire on there on the standards cause the ceramic pickup was all plastic and didn't ground the bridge. So if the new pickup you put in has a metal base plate you can lose that extra wire. The pictured pickup you might still need it ...

Now you simply have to connect your pickups to the correct terminals (follow the diagram below) on the 3 way switch, connect the groud wire running to the bridge and reassemble your guitar. Telecaster wiring is actually quite simple - as long as you are skilled enough with a soldering iron and have a good, clear and easy to read wiring diagram then you shouldn't have any problems at all.
