Wiring A GFCI Outlet

Wiring a GFCI Outlet with Combo Switch – Outlet, Receptacle & Light Switch. In this GFCI outlet wiring and installation diagram, the combo (switch + outlet), SPST (single way) switch and ordinary outlet is connected to the load side of GFCI. It means, all the connected loads to the load terminals of GFCI are protected.

Now attach the LOAD Black wire to the LOAD Hot Wire terminal, and the LOAD White wire to the LOAD White Wire Terminal. Fold the wires carefully back inside the receptacle box and install the GFCI receptacle. Mount the GFI cover plate. After all the downstream receptacles have been installed, the circuit is turned on and tested at all locations.

Wiring a GFCI Combo Switch/Outlet with Protected Light & Outlet Receptacle. In this special case wiring diagram, Both light and ordinary outlet is connected to the load terminals of GFCI. The light ON/OFF operation can be controlled through the GFCI switch while the ordinary outlet is directly connected to the GFCI load terminals.

The load connection is available to feed additional standard (non-GFCI) outlets downstream from the GFCI location to provide protection from the GFCI. In other words, any regular outlet that is fed from the load side of the GFCI is also protected from a ground fault because of the GFCI outlet.

Wiring GFCI Receptacles with a Protected Outlet. This gfci wiring provides protection to a duplex receptacle outlet at the end of the series. By connecting the load terminals on the last gfci, the wall outlet at the end is protected and can be used just as if it were one of the gfci receptacles.
