In the wiring loom that feeds the dash clocks, there is a green wire that has two spade connectors on it- one feeds power to the fuel gauge, the other connects to the temp gauge. Hi. Ive just had my fuel tank replaced, and am having trouble with my fuel gauge sender unit. It was working fine before it was taken out and put back in again, but now I think the mechanic messed with the wiring in a bad way. There is a green wire (with round plastic end piece), and a yellow wire

When the wiring loom was refitted; several things were amiss, including the fuel gauge, that had - apparently - worked normally before. Fairly simple factory VDO gauge system. 12 volt feed to gauge; wire from gauge to sender; wire from sender to earth. The gauge reads 3/4 full even with the sender at the bottom of its travel.

Looking at the negative earth wiring diagram, the rheostat that is the sender unit on the fuel tank varies the resistance to the earth, and in that sense, the gauge acts as an ammeter of sorts. In which case, the stabiliser is necessary so that the current is also controlled.

This TSB refers to 2010-2011 Land Rover LR4 (VIN AA510742-BA563825) and Range Rover Sport (LS), VIN AA212147-BA277582. Problems may include an erratic fuel gauge, inoperative fuel gauge, fluctuating fuel gauge and/or the fuel gauge switching ON/OFF intermittently.

Why try a 24v gauge is it a 24v ffr landy Normaly you would take the wire off the tank unit and put it to a known good earth point and if the gauge goes to full there is not much wrong with the wireing and dash unit most landy,s have a instrument voltage regulator that gives a lower voltage to the instruments (usualy behind the centre dash panel ) if that has blown it will not move the gauge.

All of the wiring diagrams that I have looked at are no help. I have the same doubts over the fuel gauge as well, which appears to be the same as in 2 connectors which are not labelled up and presumably 1 is a feed from the voltage regulator and 1 from the fuel tank sender. Thanks, Karl.
