V8 Coil Wiring

I've looked at the wiring diagram(s) in a book of lies and on the Rave manual but can't make sense of the coil / dissy wiring. Both manuals show a wire leaving the ECU on a black & white conductor and connecting to the -Ve terminal of the coil but it doesn't show where the white conductor from the +Ve coil terminal goes or where the two wires on the distributor connect.

The ignition coils don't vary much across the Series Land Rover model range, except that some models may have a ballast resistor strapped to the side of the coil. The purpose of this is to reduce the current passing through the coil, as the unit is not 12 volt specification.

The problem of power with ignition off is simple. Someone, sometime in this vehicle's history has provided a battery feed to the coil, somewhere in his wiring, either in addition to the ignition feed or instead of it. It is NOT a major issue in itself but it is curious and may indicate the existence of back feeds in the fuse box.

hi there, the coil is a range rover v8 12v type. I dont think the dizzy is electronic as cant see an ignition amp anywhere, but as you can tell wiring isnt my strong point.
