XJ OEM fog light wiring | Jeep Cherokee Talk

IIRC, OEM Fog lamps are wired from the factory so the lamps only work during low beam and shut off during highbeam. The OEM fog lamps could be wired outside the OEM wiring by installing a 30/40 amp relay for each lamp, or one relay for both lamps connected to the OEM switch. Then run a single hot wire from the battery sized, to handle both lamps.

Re: fog light wiring I never realized there were so many varieties of XJ, this is the most likely setup (they have at least four different wiring diagrams for various models). Where it says fog light relay number 1 going into the switch, can be a hot wire from the parking light circuit (in most cases).

More than one person has told me that the wiring for the fog lights on my '99 XJ are built into every wiring harness, whether the Jeep came with lights from the factory or not (mine didn't), and they all seemed to agree that the wires would be tucked up somewhere near the battery tray.
