The “Slot Car Track Wiring Guide” provides very clear, detailed instructions, with LOTS of accompanying pictures and diagrams, which describe one way to wire a plastic slot car track. I say “one way” because like many other things, there is more than one way to skin a cat.

The "Slot Car Track Wiring Guide" is the result of over 2 years worth of effort. Initially I had planned to offer the guide for sale; however, I have decided instead to make it available to slot car racers everywhere free of charge.

For those who don’t want to mess around with the reasons why things work here are a few quick guide-lines on track wiring that should provide a reasonable amount of power. It assumes a normal club size track, running BSCRA type cars. For lower powered cars the principles are identical, but lower thinner wiring will suffice.

The cars are raced on a track that has a groove for each vehicle lane, and the slot car has a small pin or blade that extends from the bottom and into the groove. The contacts for the electricity are picked up by the swiveling blade, or “guide flag” on the slot car, which provides the power to run around the track.
